Ha Davar is Hebrew for "The Word"

--Sharing our Lord and Saviour Yahushua, Yeshua the Messiah to the World!

Please Note: On Scriptural Truths we prefer to use the actual Name of our loving Heavenly Father as it was written in the Hebrew and thus you will note that we will use the four letter “Memorial Name” of   - YHVH, also we will use His tile “Elohim” rather that the one used by the world “God.” We need to remember “Elohim” is not a name but an attribute of what YHVH is! In addition we also love to use the actual Name of our beloved Messiah (written in Hebrew as “Mashiach” and in Greek as Christos), which is  - Yahushua or Yeshua in short, for Yahushua is the Messiah’s original Hebrew Name as given to Him in Luke 1:31. This was the only Name ever used when He was on the earth by all His disciples and His followers for hundreds of years thereafter, until it was changed to a foreign name by a new church, which later became known as “the greater Roman church.” Occasionally, we may also use other Hebrew or Greek names and words in our studies, but these will be translated when they are used. This study will provide a complete explanation of YHVH’s most Holy and blessed “Memorial Name” as well as the most wonderful Name of our Messiah.

"YHVH - YaHVaH" is The "Memorial Name" of the Almighty. Shemos - Exodus 3:15

“‘I AM has sent me to you.’ Elohim furthermore said to Moshe, ‘Go and you shall say to the Children of Israel;’  YHVH, the Elohim of your fathers …

has sent me to you. This is My Name forever and this is My Memorial Name unto all Generations.’” Shemos - Exodus 3:14-15.

PLEASE NOTE: This article has been recently updated, especially Part Three“What should we call our Lord and Saviour - Yahushua, Yahshua or is it Jesus?” You will find that this study contains is very revealing if not somewhat disturbing. However, the results of fully knowing and understanding the sheer beauty of Our Heavenly Father’s and Messiah’s actual Holy and blessed Names will bless you, but above all it will enrich your prayer life and your relationship with Him!

The three levels of learning & understanding of the blessed Word of YHVH Elohim (the Lord God):

When we read and study the blessed Scriptures, the Word of YHVH Elohim (The LORD God) as a believer in Yahushua (Yeshua) the Messiah, we should keep following three steps always in mind for they are a valuable guide and it will certainly provide us with guidance and illuminate the sheer beauty and the fullness of YHVH’s most blessed Word.

1. Who was YHVH Elohim, blessed be His Holy Name speaking to?

2. When was it said?

3. How was His Word understood at the time it was spoken/given?

I do believe that these three points are most relevant to our understanding of 1. What the Almighty is saying at the time – 2. As well as what it means to us today - and 3. Especially to you and me right now!

Shalom - Peace be with you, in Yahushua THE Messiah!

The “Memorial Name” of    YHVH

And the Actual Name of our beloved Messiah

Part One - “Magnify His Name”

This study, I pray, will touch and uplift every believer, for in it we are going to rediscover the wonderful Name of   - YHVH Elohim whom christendom and others have been calling “the LORD” rather than using what is actually written in the Scriptures and that is His blessed “Memorial Name!” Most pastors and teachers of the Word, tend to leave this subject well alone, however, I believe it to be a subject of great importance and one that should be dealt with. The Word tells me, that I am a child, a son of the living Elohim (God), in and through the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour  - Yahushua (Yeshua)! Thus, if I am a son of the living Elohim, blessed be He, then I have the right to know and use my Father’s Name for it will always be used in the most righteous of ways!

“I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty” 2 Corinthians 6:18.

As sons and daughters of the living Elohim, we often praise our heavenly Father by singing, “Magnify His Name in all the earth.” Also, when we pray that beautiful prayer, which our beloved Messiah taught us, we say, “Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your Name.” If we think about it, we will realise that we often say “Your Name” or “His Name” but never actually use the Name of our Elohim (God). I am speaking of that wonderful Name, which was given to us throughout His Word.

In this study, we are going to delve deep into this special subject and by the end I pray that we will be able to “Magnify His NAME in all the earth” by pronouncing and using His wonderful Name. HalleluYAH.

“You shall love YHVH your Elohim with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength” Davarim (Deuteronomy) 6:5.

As an orthodox Hebrew (Jew), I was taught never to use the Holy Name of Elohim as given to us in “Ha Davar,” – “The Word.” Therefore, we Hebrews pronounce it as, “Adonai” which means “Lord.” In the Tenach (the Old Testament), wherever the four-letter Name of Elohim occurs in the Hebrew - YHVH, called the Tetragrammaton and it is written in English as “the LORD” with “LORD” in capital letters. The question we should ask ourselves, are words such as “God” or “LORD” actual names for they are frequently used as names for our Heavenly Father? I can tell you with great assurance that they are not, for these words are titles, or attributes of the Almighty, blessed be He, thus they are NOT names!

However, now being a believer in the Messiah and a child of the living Elohim, filled with His Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit), I sought Abba (Father) Elohim regarding the blessed “Memorial Name,” which He proclaimed in Exodus 3:15. After a great deal of prayer, fasting and seeking an answer from the Almighty, I eventually received one, out of which came this study, which is presented to you in faith and in love, as a brother in Messiah, whose real Hebrew name is  - Yahushua, although some use a shortened version, which is “Yeshua.” But for some reason, as will be explained later, He is called Jesus by the church in general.

What then is the Name we should love above all others? Our parents name, our children’s name, our own name? No, the Name we should love above all others is the most blessed Name of our heavenly Father and that of His Anointed One the Messiah. We should also realise that the Name of   YHVH our Elohim is part of the name of our Messiah. Most are content to call our heavenly Father, and Messiah His anointed one by an assortment of accepted English titles and substitutes, like God, LORD, or Lord, Messiah and Christ. But, we should understand that none of these are Names. Of course it should be obvious to us all that each of the aforementioned are in fact attributes and titles and they must be defined, for sadly there are many, many (false) “gods” and (false) “christ's.” (Read 1 Corinthians 8:5 and Mattityahu - Matthew 24:5).

The faithful in Messiah are well aware that there is only one true Elohim, blessed be He! However, other faiths and cults use the same words as those who are in the TRUTH. Words and titles like, God, Lord, Christ and Almighty when they refer to their gods. Therefore it is important that the faithful in Messiah define what we mean when we use these terms.

It is for this reason I believe it is vital that all who know the Messiah know the “Memorial Name” of our Elohim and the true name of the Messiah Yahushua! Why is it so important? Because for far too long, the pagan church of Rome has influenced the greater “church,” with its many vile doctrines and has changed the perception of “the LORD God” and their “Christ” to the point that many “christians” have began to think of “the Christ” as being “a Christian,” rather than a Hebrew man from the tribe of Judah, thus a Judean!

In the late 90’s during a diner discussion with a senior Baptist pastor in Sydney Australia, a man who happened to be a Knight of the Realm as well as a Doctor of Theology, and one of our elders present mentioned something regarding “Jesus’ Jewish heritage.” Upon hearing this, the pastor exploded and he protested with great indignation and condemned the statement as being “a typical Jewish lie.”

Beloved, it is simply beyond belief, that a man who apparently spent many years at a theological college simply cannot grasp the most simple of Scriptural understanding that the Messiah lineage is wholly Hebrew. For was our blessed Messiah NOT from the House of Dovid (David) as so clearly stated in both the Books of Mattityahu (Matt) chapter 1:1-16 and Lukas (Luke) chapter 3:23-38. In addition as the Brit Chadasha (New Testament) proves, that Messiah and His apostles celebrated all the “Feasts of YHVH” and kept the Scriptural Seventh day Sabbath and spoke of themselves as being Judean’s (Hebrews/Jews). Tragically, this so-called “man of God” had no conception of who our beloved Messiah really was. And having lost both the Memorial Name of Elohim and the actual name of Messiah has meant that “the greater church” has sadly gone astray, due to their lack of understanding of the Word of Elohim and its Scriptural Hebrew origin, for remember that every single writer was a Hebrew, even though some had dual nationalities, such as Shaul of Tarsus (Paul) for example! The result is that we have so many cult churches.

Since 1977 I have been able to speak to many leaders, pastors about this question and often I have been told that “God does not need a Name.” If this is true, why then the words in so many Hymns and choruses … “Praise His Name?” Frankly, every time you sing that line, or something similar, you are making a mockery of our Heavenly Father and our Lord and Saviour, for you are NOT using their names in any shape or form!

I believe, as we come closer to Messiah’s return for his faithful, the faithful MUST know the Name of their Elohim and that of the Messiah. We are to praise and magnify Elohim’s Name in all our homes, fellowships and lands, and we must be a witness of Him who is the one and true Elohim! We MUST share the Name above every name, the blessed Name of Yahushua, our Lord and Saviour who gave His life in order that we might have life everlasting! We MUST share and speak out the name, using it always with great honour, and never without reason, but always glorify YHVH and Yahushua when we do, or be witnesses each time we use the Holy names!

Now what is it about that name we hear about a lot in certain circles - Jehovah?

The 1973 edition of the Revised Standard Version (1946) Bible expresses the following about that “Name.”

“(1) The word ‘Jehovah’ does not accurately represent any form of the Name ever used in Hebrew; and, (2) the use of any proper Name for the one and only true God, as though there were other gods from whom He had to be distinguished, was discontinued in Judaism before the Christian era and is entirely inappropriate for the universal faith of the Christian Church.”

These translators managed to get it so right and yet, at the same time, so terribly wrong! The first point is entirely true, “Jehovah” is NOT the Name of the YHVH Elohim, blessed be His Holy Name, and I will explain later why this is so. Point two however is totally wrong. In fact, it is 100% false teaching!

The personal Name of the Almighty was regularly pronounced up to the destruction of the First Temple in 586 BCE. Thereafter, around 300 BCE, it was the decision of men who decided to refrain from uttering the Holy Name, out of what could be called extreme reverence for YHVH Elohim. The question arises, “Who gave you the authority to override YHVH Elohim?” He gave us His Name as a “Memorial Name” to be used forever! More on this later. Did these priests and rabbis think they were the fore runners of the papacy and are “God on earth” for this is what is claimed by the Church of Rome and whatever the pope states is completely infallible! … “According the First Vatican Council, 20th ecumenical, which affirms the doctrine of “Papal Infallibility.” (i.e. when a pope speaks ex cathedra on faith or morals he does so with the supreme apostolic authority, which no Catholic or anyone can question or reject.” But this is just what the Hebrew priest and rabbis have done in regard to the Holy Name of our Creator, they simply abolished it, and thus they have assisted to lead much of the world into Scriptural error! However, it was Israel’s duty to spread the Word of the One true Elohim, whose Name is YHVH, but instead, they hid His name, and therefore, people no longer could identify who the true Elohim (God) was and slowly went astray into pagan ways.

The question begs what did Israel do instead? They commenced to use the word “Adonai” rather than the four-letter Name of Elohim, which He had given to be used as a “Memorial Name. “Adonai” in Hebrew means “Lord.” Wherever the Tetragrammaton is quoted in the Word, it is always written as “LORD.” However, the four-letter Name of Elohim,   - YHVH was, and is still written in all the Tenach (Old Testament), be it in book form, or in Scrolls of the Torah (Five Books of Moses). In fact the four-letter Name of Elohim and YAH is quoted some 6,053 times in the Tenach (OT)! Thus, be assured in the Hebrew Scriptures, the use of the blessed Name of Elohim, YHVH was never “discontinued.” In addition, for the RSV to maintain that it is “inappropriate” for our Heavenly Father to have a Name is absurd!

Beloved, we all have names and the LORD Elohim has a Name, thus it is important that we know the one and only true Elohim and His Son, by Name for this will make our relationship more personal. Is it not true … “Should a child of Elohim not know their Father's Name?”

How often have you prayed the “Lord’s Prayer” and spoken these blessed words, “Hallowed be Thy Name.”

Let’s ponder the following and I ask you to use the most simple of reasoning here, for you do NOT need to be a scholar to understand the simplicity of what our loving Saviour said!

Do you honestly think that our Messiah would give us a prayer to His followers just to confuse us? Do you think that at that time the Hebrews that were listening to Him reciting the Lord’s Prayer that they did not know His Father’s most Holy Name? Of course they did, for He, as would have the apostles, used it at al times during in prayers and teaching, which was always done in Hebrew and NOT in Aramaic or any other language just as it is until to this day in Synagogues around the globe! Why do you think the Pharisees hated Him so much with a vengeance, for He used His father’s Name! And I understand, for even today, I am attacked by Jewish Messianic’s who are bound by rabbinic traditionalism and are stuck by the ways of the Pharisees. And yes I am attacked by christians, for they also are bound by Romanism and pagan ways as they continue to keep evil feasts such as Estra and Xmas, both commencing thousands of years before our lord and have nothing to do with our Lord and saviour, but are related to the sun god and the winter solstice and the goddess Estra. Yet, they are blinded by satan. But our Saviour gave His prayer knowing full well everyone knew His Father’s blessed and wonderful Name!

Alternatively we have sung, “Glorify Thy Name in all the earth.” Is it not strange, we sing it without thinking, not actually knowing or mentioning  - YHVH’s Name at all? Some might say, “But brother, I know the Name of God. It is Jehovah!”

Beloved, I have some really bad news for you, for the truth is that this is a name that was erroneously created by man. It is certainly NOT the Name revealed in the Scriptures, by  -  YHVH Elohim, blessed be His Holy Name!

That christian cult “Jehovah’s Witnesses” will tell you that they are “the only Church who are called by the name of God.” The sad fact is, they have embraced a false name as well as a false god, for Jehovah is certainly NOT the name of “YHVH” or “the LORD of Hosts!” Sadly much of the “christian” world also uses this false name as does the King James Bible. Some Bibles use it up to several thousand times. Praise YHVH Elohim now there are a number of translations, the like of the New King James, the New American Standard, the New International and the New England Bibles that  totally reject the Name of “Jehovah.” There is another popular version of the Name of Elohim, being “Yahweh.” Rather than “Jehovah,” this has been the closest pronunciation to date, but it is still not correct. By now you will be asking “What then is the blessed Name of the LORD our Elohim?” Part Two beloved, will reveal the fullness thereof, for YHVH Elohim, blessed be His wonderful Name, desires you to know His “Memorial Name!”

“Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘YHVH Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac, and the Elohim of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My Name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations’” Exodus 3:15.

Part Two - The Sacred Name Revealed

The Name of “the LORD,” in Hebrew “ - YHVH including “Yah” is written a total of 6,053 times in the Tenach (Old Testament). When my Hebrew brethren read the Name, as I have stated before, it is pronounced as “Adonai” which means “Lord.” Some Hebrew communities prefer to say “HaSHEM,” which literally means “the Name.” The ancient Hebrew alphabet did not have vowels until the Masorites, in the 9thcentury AD began to use vowel signs and they purposely added the vowel pointing's of Adonai under the consonants of YHVH. Their intention was not to create a new word, but rather to indicate to the Children of Israel, that “Adonai” would be pronounced when YHVH was written in the Holy Scriptures. The first vowel was changed from “a” to an “eh” making the sound “Yeh,” rather than “Yah.” However, they also ensured that no one would be able to pronounce the Name of YHVH.

The reason for the avoidance of pronouncing the blessed Name of Elohim was a misunderstanding of the third commandment by the priest and rabbis.

“Thou shall not take the Name of YHVH thy Elohim in vain” Shemos (Exodus) 20:7 and Davarim (Deuteronomy) 5:11.

If we study the Hebrew, the full meaning of this verse will be discovered.

“You shall not swear falsely by the Name of YHVH your Elohim”

Those that love  - YHVH Elohim will realise that every time we say “Hallelujah” we actually pronounce the Name of Elohim. Hallelu’Yah. “Hallel” means “Praise,” and “Yah” is the blessed Name, of the Creator our Elohim!

The hybrid name of “Jehovah” came about in the 16thcentury, by certain untrained theologians who read the Masoretic text of YHVH and the vowels the consonants under YHVH which were of course an indication to Israel related to Adonai and sounded like “Yeh” they mistakenly believed the word to be “Yehovah.” Later it became “Jehovah” when the letter “J” was introduced into the English alphabet. Thereafter this name gained acceptance in most circles. But by the 19thcentury the grave mistake was recognised and many theologians rejected this false name. However, having said all this, at least, the last three letters of “Jehovah” are in fact correct, as we will soon see.

My Hebrew brethren believe that only the Messiah will accurately pronounce the Name of Elohim. Well I know that He certainly did when He was with us, and He will again! However, there is a precious prophecy, which tells us:

Therefore MY people SHALL know MY NAME, therefore they shall know in that day that I am He who speaks: ‘Behold, it is I’” Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 52:6.

As the faithful in the Messiah are the people of Elohim, we should know Elohim’s Name! Did you notice that this page already contains the correct Name of Elohim although it is in two sections? Did you pick it?

At this point let us investigate the origins of the letters  - YHVH.

Hebrew for YHVH – YaHVaH

YHVH is a verbal form of the root “hvh,” which is an older variant of the root “hava” which means, “to be, shall be, to exist.” As this is in the future tense, it therefore means “He that causes to be, He brings into existence.”

If we choose the vowels of hava” – “to be” and transpose them on YHVH, the blessed Name of Elohim becomes YaH'VaH. The letter “V” can also be pronounced as a soft ”W” thus the word came about - “Yahweh” but it should be pronounced as YaH'WaH. The fact is, the Ashkenazi Hebrew pronunciation of the letter “vav” is V, as in Valour. Thus the pronunciation of the most blessed Name could be either “YaH’VaH” - or, the more ancient Sephardi Hebrews would pronounce the letter “vav” as a “W” thus the Name would then be pronounced as “YaH’Wah.” I know that both would be pleasing to our Elohim! “Praise His Sanctified Name!”

These are the declensions of the root “hava.” Hava is a primitive root meaning to “breathe” – “to be” (in the sense of existence). “Avah” means, to “wish for,” “covet,” (greatly) “desire,” be “desirous,” to “long” (after). “Hayah” means, “to exist,” i.e. “be” or “become,” “come to pass.” Only three other instances of “hava” are preserved in Hebrew. They are as follows.

1. Qoheleth (Ecclesiastes) 2:22 “For what has man for all his labour, and for the striving of his heart with which he has toiled under the sun?”

2. Bereshis (Genesis) 27:29 “Let peoples serve you and nations bow down to you. Be master over your brethren, and let your mother's son’s bow down to you. Cursed be everyone who curses you, and blessed be those who bless you!”

3. Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 16:4 “Let My outcasts dwell with you, O Moab; be a shelter to them from the face of the spoiler. For the extortioner is at an end, devastation ceases, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.”

YHVH, YaHVaH appears in seven passages where the Name of Elohim is particularly stressed.

“I appeared to Avraham (Abraham), to Yitzchak (Isaac), and to Ya’akov (Jacob), as Elohim Almighty, but by My Name, YaHVaH, I was not known to them” Shemos (Exodus) 6:3.

In this verse the word for Elohim is “EL” as in “God the Almighty.” We need to understand that the word “Elohim” is an “attribute” and NOT a name. This word can also refer to any pagan god in the Scriptures, that is why YaHVaH Elohim emphasises that “My Name is YHVH – YaHVaH,” therefore distinguishing who He IS and this way there can be NO confusion!

A simple explanation might be as follows. HRH “Queen Elizabeth” of Great Britain and HRH “Queen Beatrix” of the Netherlands are both “Queen,” which is their “title.” But, their Names are in fact “Elizabeth” and “Beatrix.” Therefore, as with the word “Queen,” the word “Elohim” refers to YHVH’s Title, His Attribute, whereas “YaHVaH” is His wonderful and blessed “Memorial Name.”

YaHVaH our Elohim has told us in His Word that His Name should be known by His children, for sadly, there are far too many false gods worshipped in the world. We must therefore distinguish who our Elohim is, He is, YaHVaH Elohim, the Creator of heaven and earth, and all that is therein!

The Scriptures gives us many examples.

“That they may know that You, whose Name alone is YHVH - YaHVaH, are the Most High over all the earth” Tehillim (Psalms) 83:18.

“Behold, Elohim is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For YAH, our YaHVaH is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation” Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 12:2.

“Your Name YaHVaH, endures forever; and your renown YaHVaH throughout all generations” Tehillim (Psalms) 135:13

“Even YaHVaH Elohim of hosts. YaHVaH is His memorable Name” Hoshea (Hosea) 12:5.

“Moreover Elohim said to Moshe (Moses), ‘Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘YaHVaH the Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Avraham, the Elohim of Yitzchak, and the Elohim of Ya’akov, has sent me to you. This is My Name forever, and this is My Memorial to all generations’” Shemos (Exodus) 3:15.

In each of these verses the importance is placed on the blessed Name of Elohim and it is to be a “Memorial to all Generations.” What is meant by the word "Memorial?

The word “Memorial” in Shemos - Exodus is Zichri.” The word is from Zecher,” which is a primitive root meaning to “mark,” to “remember” and to “mention.” The word mention also appears in Yirmyahu (Jeremiah) 20:9.

“Then I said, ‘I will not make mention of Him, nor speak any more in His Name.’”

The word “mention” is the same Hebrew word as “memorial.” Without doubt, we are taught in the Word to make “mention of the Name of YaHVaH Elohim,” not only with our mind but also with our mouths.

Some will argue that the name of Moshe’s mother, Yochebed, recorded in Exodus 3 verse 20 would proves otherwise. But the Word of Elohim is sure, thus when He said, “By My Name YHVH, I made Me not known unto them” clearly states it was “NOT KNOWN.” It is generally believed by “christian theologians” that Yochebed means, “YHVH is glorified or honoured.” The question, we should ask, “is it not strange, that NO Jewish authority, from before the days of Yahushua, to this day agrees with that thought, and neither does the author. Otherwise YHVH, blessed is He, would have told a lie 18 verses earlier, in verse 2 of that same chapter.

We should now ask the question why is the blessed Memorial Name of “YaHVaH” never used today, and not at all by Israel? There are two reasons. The priests and Rabbis eventually hid the pronunciation of the Divine Name, as they feared that individuals could, even accidentally blaspheme the precious Name of Elohim.

But there was another reason. Like today there are those who dissect The Word and they can even make it say what they want it to mean, yes, they can twist it so out of proportion that it is no longer what YHVH has said originally, and most ordinary people would not know the difference, for they would have just accepted the scholars opinion. What a sad situation. So much of Judaism today has gone totally astray, because of the cult of Chassidism which is now steeped in pagan rituals, just like the greater church has done, that satan has been the victor during the past 2,000 years. A great tragedy! But, praise be to YHVH Elohim and Messiah Yahushua His faithful do continue, although be it in smaller numbers.

However, the Hebrew, the word “Forever”Le’Olam is written defective, without the Hebrew vav thus, it can be pronounced LeAlem,” which it is said it could mean, to “conceal.” Thus the rabbis alluded that this might suddenly signified that the Divine Name should not be pronounced as written after all and that it be concealed. That is why we now read in most “Scriptures” the words “the LORD,” which is “Adonai” in Hebrew.

However, I officially challenge these rabbis, for they are very wrong and Scripturally so! 1. Why was it then right to use YHVH’s Memorial Name up to and even after the destruction of the First Temple? 2. The Hebrew word for “Memorial” as I have already indicated is Zichri,” thus it should read “the Mention of Me.” Therefore, the commandment is “we should mention,” or use YHVH’s blessed Memorial Name, for the world, Israel and the churches have strayed from using the most Holy Name YaHVaH Elohim, and that of His only begotten Son, Yahushua, because they (with the help of evildoers, including these rabbis) refused to use the blessed “Memorial Name” and thus sadly error has entered into both the House of Israel and into the body of Messiah.

However, YaHVaH Elohim, blessed be His holy Name, desires us, as His sons and daughters, to use and to mention His Name, and not to hide it, for it is a “memorial to all generations.”

I am sure none of us would like it, if our loved ones always called us Mr, or Mrs, rather than by our given names. I know I certainly would not. Thus it is with YaHVaH our Elohim. In the Word He commands us to call Him by His Name and not just by His attributes. Our blessed Messiah said,

“And I have declared to them Your Name and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them” Yochannan (John) 17:26.

The obvious question being what did our Messiah call His Father? It is unimaginable to believe that our blessed Messiah would have said, “Elohim your Father has two Names, one is Adonai (LORD) and the other is Elohim (God).” No, the Word states that He “declared,” and “revealed” … “Your Name” and therefore the apostles would have known and understood not only the titles of El Shaddai, Elohim Almighty but also the “Memorial Name, YaHVaH Elohim.”

It has been said to me that “The Memorial Name of Elohim only appears in the Old Testament and never in the Brit Chadashah (New Testament.)” The truth is beloved that the removal of the blessed Name YaHVaH, was not the doing of its authors, nor the apostles, but was the erroneous result of Hellenisation being the translation of the writings of the apostles from the original Hebrew into Greek. At a closer examination, we will find many verses where the holy Name of Elohim occurring in their writings.

Blessed is he that cometh in the Name of YaHVaH (the LORD)” Mattityahu (Matthew) 21:9. See also Mattityahu (Matthew) 23:39, Mark 11:9, Luke 13:35 and Yochannan (John) 12:13.

We must remember that this verse [Mattityahu (Matthew) 21:9] is a direct quotation from Tehillim (Psalms) 118:26, where the Hebrew says, “In the Name of YaHVaH.”

Again “YaHVaH said unto my Lord, sit at My right hand” Mattityahu (Matthew) 22:44. From Tehillim (Psalms)110:1.

Each of these verses, and many others are quoted in the writings of the apostles and they came directly from Tenach (OT), which always uses the four-letter Name of Elohim, YHVH. Thus, it is my firm belief that the apostles, who had received from the Messiah the declaration, and the revelation of Elohim’s Name, used it in their original writings of the Gospels, especially when they were writing down direct quotes from the Tenach. Remember the Scriptures and they only had the Tenach (OT), for they did not they did not as yet have a Brit Chadashah (New Testament), and remember that the Word very clearly stated that you were not permitted to change even a “Yot or a Tithle,” meaning not a single letter, let alone the Memorial Name of YHVH Elohim, well unless you are a rabbi or a pope of course, then you can play god, but it will cost  you your life, for the wages of sin is DEATH!

The book of Revelation has this quote from “The song of Moshe, the servant of Elohim, and the song of the Lamb, saying: ‘Great and marvellous are Your works, YHVH El Shaddai - (the LORD God Almighty)! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints! Who shall not fear You, O YHVH, and glorify Your Name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You” Revelation15:3-4.

“YAH”

It is generally thought that YAH is a shortened form of YaHVaH. This Name of Elohim occurs about 50 times in the Tanach. In Tehillim (Psalm) 68:4 this Name is particularly stressed. The Name YAH is also found in the construct word “HalleluYAH,” which means “you praise YHVH,” as well as in many Scriptural names such as EliYAHu). The first occurrence of the Name YAH occurs in Shemos (Exodus) 15:2, where Moshe (Moses) and Yisroel (Israel) sing a song regarding their deliverance from Pharaoh’s horsemen.

“YAH” is the abbreviated, which is also a poetic form of the Memorial Name YaHVaH appears over 50 times in the Tanach (OT) and it is first used in Shemos (Exod) 15:2 – 17:16. Tehillim (Psalms) 68:5 & 19, 77:12, 89:9, 94:7 & 12, 102:19, 105:45, 106 1. Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 12:2, 26:4, 38:11 and so on.

To me this proves that the Name of YaHVaH Elohim has not changed, and that all the faithful out of the nations, and those of Israel will know His Name! Another thought in relation to the usage on the Holy Name in the Brit Chadashah (NT) is this. In Revelation the phrase “Hallelu'Yah” is used some 20 times, thus there without any doubt we find the blessed Name “YAH,” which is the short version of YaHVaH.

“Adonai” or “Kurios”

Some have said that the word “LORD,” “Adonai” or “Kurios” was used in the apostle’s quotations, and not the Tetragrammaton. No! As I have already stated earlier, when the four-letter Name of Elohim appears in Scripture, Hebrews might say “Adonai,” or “HaShem” (the Name), however, to this day, when writing the Name of Elohim on the Torah (parchment) Scrolls, the scribes always write Elohim’s Name as the four Hebrew letter YHVH, being YHVH. Thus, the written Name was and has not been lost or forgotten and continues to be used by Israel to this day. Thus, the Hebraic apostles would have also used YHVH on their manuscripts, as they and/or their scribes later wrote the Hebrew Gospels.

From language styles compared with the Tenach translation to the Greek, the Septuagint, it appears that the four Gospels were without doubt, originally written in Hebrew, and later translated to Greek. One argument is that Aramaic was the language of the day, thus it is said that it should have been written in Aramaic. It is also claimed, by some TV pastor, that the Messiah went about speaking and teaching in perfect Greek. What, speaking Greek to the Hebrew peasants and fishermen, who only knew Aramaic and Hebrew? Please help us Lord, do people really listen to these men?

It must not be forgotten that in the Temple at the time of our Messiah and continuing up to this very day, ALL Prayers and Scriptures are recited in Hebrew, no matter the nationality and language of the Jewish person. Go to any Synagogue to this day, be it in Australia, USA, South Africa, China England, Holland, Israel or India, etc, they will pray and read the Torah in what – Hebrew! They may speak in their national languages on a daily basis, but, their services are generally in the Hebrew. Although in modern days there are a few conservative Synagogues have sprung up and some have began to use a little more of the local language, but they still use Hebrew for the main parts!

The sad fact it has been an evil conspiracy to destroy the usage of the blessed Name of Elohim, and that of the Messiah. However, those who oppose Elohim (obviously being the adversary - HaSatan) can never destroy the blessed Memorial Name of Elohim, but satan and all these evildoers did succeed in persuading the faithful in the Messiah to forget it. There has even been a variety of substitute Names to confuse the matter. Now in these “latter days” there are even some believers who might say, “It does not matter if we really know or use the Name.”

Beloved, more than ever do we need to know and use the everlasting Name for this will ensure that those individuals we share the Word with, will know the difference between the one and only true Elohim, who is YaHVaH, and the many gods believed in throughout this evil and rotten world!

At this point let us now look at “the Name above all names,” the name of our Messiah who is called “Jesus” by the “church” and pagan Rome. Just as the blessed Name of Elohim has been forgotten, so has wonderful Name of our Lord and Saviour been dramatically altered and thus forgotten for many centuries.

Part Three - What should we call our Lord and Saviour

Yahushua, Yeshua or Jesus?

“Wherefore Elohim (God) also hath highly exalted Him and given Him a Name which is above every name. That at the Name of (the Messiah) every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Yahushua the Messiah is Lord, to the glory of Elohim the Father” Philippians 2:9-11.

Without doubt, many love the name of “Jesus.” As we travel the world, we hear the name of the Messiah pronounced in many different ways - “Iesous, Jesu, Jesus, Jisu, Isua, Isa” and in Israel and some Asian lands, Yeshua, Yahshua, but the actual Hebrew name given to Him in the Word is:  - “Yahushua.”

Is it not strange that our blessed Messiah has so many names? Yet, as I travel the world, I am called “Reuben” in all English speaking countries. But, it is also “Reuben” in Germany, Holland, Russia, Poland, Spain, France, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, China, the Americas, as it is in the Middle East! No one ever called me Robert, Robby, Rudy or Roy. Why, because Reuben is my name and I have not chosen to Anglicize it to anything else, whereas some Eastern European migrants and some others may have made a personal choice to change their difficult to pronounce name. Thus, if every nation in the world is able to call me by my correct name, WHY then is it not possible to call our Lord and Saviour by His correct name? Has He not “the Name above every name?” Of course it is possible and we should call the Messiah by the name, which His heavenly Father gave Him.

Many have asked me how did the Name of Messiah get changed from the Hebrew  - Yahushua to Jesus? This article will answer the question, although it will obviously be controversial and many will have a number of arguments with it.

Let me take care of the main argument, the one being but the Lord has blessed me when I have used the name of Jesus, etc! And I can tell you, yes YHVH our Elohim, (the LORD our God) will have done so for He does not punish anyone who is blameless and does not know any better. For let’s be honest, you will have been reading His Word and you have come to know His Son, and believe in the Messiah as Lord and your Saviour, thus He will bless you! Even though Messiah asks in the Word ask it in MY NAME, He would very much prefer we do ask it in His actual Name and not in a name that has been totally invented, for Jesus is not a translation from the Hebrew. However, YHVH does allow many in the Body to be blessed, for they are seeking His Word in Spirit and in Truth and they will discover not only the Memorial Name of YHVH (YaHVaH), but also that of His only begotten Son, Yahushua the Messiah! Thus, if you have been using the name of Jesus in the past, fine, but it could be time that now past, for now it is the time to understand where it originates from and thus the reason why you are reading this vital study. Beloved your heavenly Father wishes you to know His Son in the fullness that He originally intended!

Thus, we could ask the question, “What does the name of “IESOUS” – “JESUS” really mean, and why was it changed from Yahushua?”

In Greek as it is in the Hebrew, names always have a precise meaning and nothing is there without a reason. We know that the prophets were given very specific names and when we study them we discover that they were indeed chosen men for their times. Here are just a few examples: Yirmyahu - Jeremiah means “Appointed of Yah.”  Zecharyah – Zechariah = “Yah protects.” Yeshayahu – Isaiah = “Salvation of Yah.”

Now, let me begin with the name “IESOUS.”

1. In “IE” or “JE” is the sound of “Yeh” which is a “hail.” As we know, it is certainly not in any way related to the blessed Memorial Name - “Yah,” or even “Jah” for it was deliberately changed.

An interesting note, according the Dictionary of Christian Lore and Legend by J. C. J. Melford, page 126 it states that in the “Latin the word ‘JESU’ has been traced to an Hebrew word meaning a ‘curse be upon.’”

2. This leaves us with the “SOUS” or “SUS” part of the name. This also has a very distinct meaning and this is the part that needs further investigation. We should be well aware that there are many Greek names of individuals, cities, places and gods that have either all or part of this name, which we should know means “ZEUS.” Examples are the Greek hero of the Trojan War “Odysseus” and the Greek deity “Ieuseus” being a variant spelling of the Latin “IESUS.” There is the sacred mountain in Greece Parnassus, and the god of wine and the son of ZeusDionysus.” Other Greek words such as “Tarsus” mean the “sweat of Zeus” and then there is Pegasus and Ephesus.

Thus tragically our Lord and Saviour has been called by the name of “JeZeus” – “hail to Zeus” over the centuries by those who are unaware of its actual meaning. This name was attributed to him by the new Church who was against anything that even remotely appeared to be from a Hebraic origin; especially the keeping of the Seventh Day Sabbath and thus Mithra worshipping Emperor Constantine changed that by force with a cloud of punishment of death on March 7, 321 A.D. This was part of his statement:

On the venerable Day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed.” (Codex Justinianus 3.12.3, trans. Philip Schaff, History of the Christian Church, 5th ed. (New York, 1902).

The Roman Papacy officially confirmed the Sunday law as The Council of Laodicea in 364 A.D. decreed,

“Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday but shall work on that day; but the Lord’s day they shall especially honour, and, as being Christians, shall, if possible, do no work on that day. If, however, they are found Judaizing, they shall be shut out from Christ.” (Strand, op. cit., citing Charles J. Hefele, A History of the Councils of the Church, 2 (Edinburgh, 1876) 316)

This new Roman pagan based Church was not part of the Apostolic Ecclesia that had been in existence since the time of Messiah and had continued for hundreds of years.

“And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His Name  - Yahushua, for He will save his people from their sins” Matthew 1:21.

Yes, our Saviours name is “Yahushua,” and his name contains the blessed Name of his Father, “Yah,” whereas “ushua” means “save” or “salvation.” Thus, the name of Yahushua means, "YaHVaH (the eternal existing One) Saves.” The blessed Name of Yahushua is correctly pronounced … “Ya’ho’Shoe’a.” One may say there is nothing wrong about the Name of Jesus as it is the Anglicised version of Yahushua. However, I make the point that all those who personally knew the Messiah and spoke with him, called him, “Yahushua.” You might say, “but the New Testament is in Greek, and there it was written differently.” True, but this was mainly due because Greek does not have a “Y” in its alphabet and it was therefore was written as “Iesou” or “Isous.”

Joshua and our Lord had the same name!

However, at this point I wish to point out, that there was ANOTHER blessed man of Elohim in the Word and his name was also  - “Yahushua.” This man’s name was also written as “IESOU” in the Septuagint (Greek translation of the Tenach). But, how was his name translated into the English, and in other Bibles? There you will find it much closer to the original Hebrew, “Joshua.”  Thus the question arises. “Why was the name of our Saviour not written as Joshua in our Bibles, and why so it so dramatically changed that it bears no resemblance to his real name?” The adversary (HaSatan) obviously did a very good job at using Rome and the many so-called intellectual scholars to hide the TRUTH!

What does “Stong’s” have to say about the Name of our Saviour?

NT:2424: Iesous (ee-ay-sooce'); of Hebrew origin [OT:3091]; Jesus (i.e. Jehoshua), the name of our Lord and two (three) other Israelites. OT:3091: Yehowshuwa` (yeh-ho-shoo'-ah); or Yehowshua (yeh-ho-shoo'-ah); from OT:3068 and OT:3467; Jehovah-saved; Jehoshua (i.e. Joshua), the Jewish leader: Jehoshua, Jehoshuah, Joshua.

Having read Strongs, your question should be – Why then did the most important man ever to walk the earth, Messiah, who was given the Name above every name, had His Name changes beyond recognition, whilst Joshua almost retained his unaltered, sounding much the same as it was written. Ask you pastor, priest WHY. And using the Greek theory is not a good excuse, for Joshua and Jesus is very different. From today, I pray to our Father in Heaven that you dear reader, that you will ONLY pray and worship Messiah Yahushua, who gave His life for you - “I will do whatever you ask in my name , so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.” Yochannan (John) 14:13.

Messiah or Christ?

It is also important to look at the best-known title of  - Yahushua, the Christ.” You may have well noticed that this word Christ is never used in any of my teachings, be it behind the pulpit, or in writing. There are multiple good reasons for this.

“He (Yahushua) is Kurios of kurioon and Basileus of basileoon - He is Lord of lords and King of kings.” Revelations 17:14.

Considering this verse, why then, when we speak about  - Yahushua, we use the term “Lord” and not “Ku’ri’os,” … or “King” rather than “Bas’il’yeas”? You might say, well Reuben that is Greek, and you are quite right! Thus, I will then ask the question, “why then use the Greek word Christ (from Christos) rather than its translation, Messiah”? We call Yahushua “Lord” and “King,” thus we should then clearly make clear to the world that he is our “Messiah” or the “Anointed” for that is what the Greek word, as does “Mashiach” in the equivalent Hebrew means.

Please remember terms are titles, or attributes of our precious Messiah Yahushua, and we should translate them into our language for full understanding. However, names should never be altered or changed, and we should use the wonderful name YaHVaH Elohim gave Messiah, and Yahushua is Messiah’s actual Name, although I do not mind the shortened version Yahshua.

Another reason I do not wish to use the title Christ, or even the term Christian, is due to the millions of Jewish and other believers lives who were known as the “protestors” that were slaughtered in the “Name of Christ” by so-called “Christians”, (and please note that I said so-called christians, for they were evil and not believers in the one and true Messiah) during the past two thousand years. Within Jewish circles, the word “Christ” and “Christian” is associated with “death,” and the “murder” of Jews throughout Europe. Jewish people remember well that Hitler was “a Christian,” for let’s face it he was a Roman Catholic, yet he, and his mostly Catholic and Lutheran followers were responsible for the death of some 40 million people all over Europe, including 6 million Jews during World War II.

In today’s climate to say that you are a “Christian” has little to no meaning at all, even some new age believers and Buddists say that they are christian of some sort, as do Mormons and Scientoligists, yet they are evil satanic cults. The true faithful in Messiah  Yahushua understand the difference and we often use more meaningful statements. Rather saying that you are Christian, we prefer to define our faith by saying who we believe in and by using the Name of our beloved Messiah Yahushua, for we know well that the word Christian has lost most of its meaning in the world, especially in these “the latter days.”

Recently whilst speaking with a man, he told me that he was a Christian, yet within minutes commenced to tell me of his belief in Krishna and reincarnation and this confirms what I said earlier. You need to know this for a fact, Hindus, Buddhists, and even Muslims speak of “God” and “Jesus,” but does this make them a believer and a follower of   - YHVH Elohim and his Anointed Messiah the Lord Yahushua? No certainly not! For they do not know Him who is the Creator and the sustainer of life!

Thus, the faithful believers in the Word of Elohim must stand apart from the world, as Messiah Yahushua has asked of us. We should return to the ways of old as led by the apostles, and once again start calling YaHVaH Elohim and Yahushua by their Scriptural Names and titles. As one chorus goes, “There is power in the Name.” How true this is. Therefore, let us return to using the Names above every name. A Name greater than any - YaHVaH Elohim, and Yahushua the Messiah.

Blessed be the Holy Name of  - YaHVaH Elohim, the Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth. Blessed be the wonderful Name of Yahushua the Messiah, who died for us and rose again after three days and three nights, Hallelu'Yah!

Thank You precious Yahushua, that all who believe in you and repented of their sins shall not perish but have everlasting life!

“Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. We believe that Yahushua died and rose again and so we believe that Elohim will bring with Yahushua those who have fallen asleep in him” 1 Thes 4:13-14.

Important Note!

Beloved, you will have read that the name “Jesus” is in reality the name of a pagan god. However, we must be very careful here for although we know well that this name 'Jesus' comes from the Greek “Je-Zeus” and that it refers to the Greek god Zeus and that this name entered into early christianity after that evil pagan emperor Constantine, who was both a Mithra and a Zeus worshipper, converted the pagan Roman masses to a new state version of christianity for a selfish political gain. That is how the attributes of the pagan god Zeus were accredited to the blessed prophesied Messiah of Israel and the world, in addition the addition of Zeus-mass (Xmas - birthday) on 25 December being the Roman date for remembering the birth of the god Sol, also known as the winter solstice.

But beloved we must be BEWARE, for there is only ONE PERSON Who His gave sinless Life and was nailed on that stake (tree/cross) at Golgotha shedding His blood in order to secure everlasting life for His true and faithful followers and Who rose from the grave after three days and nights in the tomb. THIS PERSON who is known to the world as “Jesus Christ” and although this may be the name of a pagan god, which Satan managed to palm off to countless millions and has found them in error and celebrating pagan festivals, but this does NOT make the TRUE Messiah Yahushua of the Holy Scriptures one and the same. The truth is that the church do know about the real person who is the Messiah, but they have been misled in the detail, due mainly to traditions and erroneous teachings that originate from Romanism, and now they must RETURN to Him and also use the most blessed Name that He was originally given as well of that of the Father,  - YHVH – YaHVaH Elohim, which for far too long has been incorrectly been called the LORD God, which also is not a name!

For let us be honest there are countless god’s that are called lord, and god! We MUST name and make clear who our Elohim really is, and we have been given His “Memorial Name” YHVH, which is pronounced YaHVaH, or YaHWah. And Like our Lord and Saviour did state, “Ask it in My name and it shall be done.” Well the majority of follower’s have been praying and asking it in the name of another god, and remember that satan is a great counterfeit and will answer your prayers and can do miracles as long as he can keep you from the true Saviour!

In conclusion.

Beloved, this message, and it contents was given to me by  - YaHVaH Elohim, for me to share with to the faithful and the “churches,” for He desires everyone to know Him by His rightful Name and His attribute, which is of course “Elohim” and it should not be “God,” but that will be another study soon. We must be aware Yahushua will come in this “LeDor Acharon” - the “Last generation” (Psalm 102:18) for the people of Israel has been partially restored to Zion and this is but the beginnings of the prophecy. Therefore we have a big task ahead of us to proclaim the Word to a lost world, to Christians, Jews and Gentiles in order that many will be blessed and join the faithful in  - Yahushua in order that at the time when Yahushua of the sound of the trump, He will be able to say, “Well done good and faithful servant.”

“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of Elohim. And the dead in Messiah will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words" Thessalonians 4:16-18.

Please Lord, give us the desire to go and share the Word NOW, in order that many will be counted worthy, for soon we pray that Messiah will come. Many have asked me, “When will Messiah come, and what year?” Beloved, I do not know, not like those false prophets, but I do know this, it will happen during the Feast of “Yom Te’Ruach” (Blowing of the Shofar – rams horn) generally known as Rosh Hashanah, or Jewish New Year, for He who was our Passover Lamb was killed at the time of the “Passover” sacrifice, also Messiah was without “leaven” (sin), and He rose as the “Firstfruits”, which covered the first three Feasts prophetically (Vayikra - Lex:23). The next Feast was also fulfilled on the very day according to Acts chapter 4, when on “Shavuot – Feast of Weeks” the Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit) was pored out on the faithful. Thus beloved, Messiah’s return will happen prophetically on the next feast, then comes “Yom Kippur - Day of Atonement,” and concluding with “Sukkot – Tabernacles”. Studies regarding these feasts will be online.

However beloved, treat Yahushua’s coming as if it is going to happen today! Then you will be ready at the Feast to be fulfilled having faithfully declared the Name of YHVH – YaHVaH Elohim and that of our beloved Messiah,   Yahushua has come, died, rose again and ascended to be with His Father Elohim, and He will return again soon! Are you ready?

Shalom in Messiah  - Yahushua.

May YHVH Elohim bless and keep you in the palm of His hand always, in Messiah Yahushua’s loving Name!
