Ha Davar is Hebrew for "The Word"

--Sharing our Lord and Saviour Yahushua, Yeshua the Messiah to the World!--

Please Note: On this site we prefer to use the actual Name of our loving Heavenly Father as it was written in the Hebrew and thus you will note that we will use the four letter “Memorial Name” of   - YHVH, which is pronounced as YaHVaH or YaHWaH, also we will use our Heavenly Father’s tile - “Elohim” rather than “God” and we need to remember that “Elohim” (God) is NOT a name but an attribute, a title! In addition we also love to use the actual Name of our beloved “Messiah” (written in Hebrew as “Mashiach” and in Greek as “Christos”), which is  - Yahushua (Yeshua in short) for this is the Messiah’s original Hebrew Name as given to Him in Luke 1:31. This was the only Name ever used when He was on the earth by His disciples and His followers for hundreds of years thereafter. However it was changed to a foreign name by the new church, which later became known as “the greater Roman catholic church.” Occasionally, we may also use other Hebrew or Greek names and words in our studies, but these will be translated when they are used, either the first time in a study or at various times as needed for clarity. For an explanation of YHVH’s most Holy and blessed “Memorial Name” and the wonderful Name of our Messiah: Please read The Memorial Name.

The three levels of learning & understanding of the blessed Word of YHVH Elohim (the Lord God):

When we read and study the blessed Scriptures, the Word of YHVH Elohim as a believer in Yahushua the Messiah, we should keep following three steps in always mind for they are a valuable guide and it will certainly provide us with guidance and illuminate the sheer beauty and the fullness of YHVH’s most blessed Word.

1. Who was YHVH Elohim, blessed be His Holy Name speaking to?

2. When was it said?

3. How was His Word understood at the time it was spoken/given?

I do believe that these three points are most relevant to our understanding of 1. What the Almighty is saying at the time - 2. As well as what it means to us today - and 3.  Indeed to you and me right now!

Shalom - Peace be with you.

“Shema Yisroel – Hear O Israel”

This is Moshe’s - Moses’ Great Declaration of Faith!

This is one of the most important items online, for it reveals the true nature of the Almighty, the Elohim, (God) of Avraham, Yitzchak and Ya’akov (Abraham Isaac and Jacob). As a Jew I say this declaration twice each and every day, fully knowing it full meaning and implication, and I pray that many more will come to understand it after having read this work! Take my word, for an ultra orthodox Jew this is the Scripture that is the one that get’s in the way when we come to learn about the Messiah, thus, rather then go there, let us come to understand the “Shema Yisroel” with a deeper understanding!

Moshe’s great declaration to the Children of Israel regarding the One True YHVH Elohim (the LORD God) is both simple and profound! For his declaration is found in the myrbd rps Book of Deuteronomy in Chapter 6:4 as follows:

Dx'(a, hw"ïhy> YWnyheÞl{a/ hw"ïhy> lae_r"f.yI [m;Þv

Shema Yisroel, YHVH Eloheynu, YHVH Echad”

“Hear O Israel, the LORD our God, the Lord is One

The emphasis of the declaration is based on the Divine revelation that the Eternal Elohim (God) is dha“Echad.”

Now the object is to understand the fullness of the meaning of this word dha – “Echad,” thus we should examine it carefully how, and in what sense Moshe uses it in other parts of the Word. It is thus best for us to start at the “In the beginning” the Book of tvarb – Genesis, which will give us a number of examples of this word dha – “Echad.”

The word dha – “Echad” is used by Moshe some eighteen times in Bereshis - Genesis and this is a matter of great importance! I will give the order as they appear and will appeal to all who read this to examine each verse in its proper context and discover the full meaning of the word Echad.

---------------------

Please Note: The following quotations are all from the “Holy Scriptures” by the Jewish Publication Society of America.

First occurrence: Genesis Chapter 1:5.

dx'(a, ~Ayð rq,boß-yhiy>w:) br<[,î-yhiy>w:)

“And there was evening and there was morning, One (Echad) day.”

As we carefully look at this verse we will understand that obviously evening is morning and morning is not evening, they are very different and at two distinct different time slots of the day. They are clearly distinguished the one from other, yet evening and morning associated together make ~Ay “Yom” - “day” and yet that day is dha – “Echad.” The use of the word Echad in this passage evidently indicates the essential “oneness” or unity of the two clearly distinguished features being evening and morning!

---------------------

Second occurrence: Genesis Chapter 1:9.

dx'êa, ~Aqåm'-la, ‘~yIm;’V'h; tx;T;Ûmi ~yIM;øh; Ww“Q'yI ~yhiªl{a/ rm,aYOæw:

“And God said, ‘Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto One (Echad) place’”

We need to consider the following points: The Name of God as in other places including Genesis Chapter1:1 is in the plural. I know that there could be an argument on this point that the plurality there is related to the “plural of majesty,” but this humanly conceived theory collapses under the test of the holy Scriptures themselves.

The “waters” are in the dual, as are the “heavens.” Here we find the waters plural because in the verse we read: “And the gathering together of the waters called He seas.”

---------------------

Third occurrence: Genesis Chapter 2:24.

`dx'(a, rf"ïb'l. Wyàh'w> ATêv.aiB. qb;äd"w> AM=ai-ta,w> wybiÞa'-ta, vyaiê-bz"[]y:¥ ‘!Ke-l[;

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be One (Echad) flesh.”

It is quite obvious to us all that a man is not a woman and a woman is not a man, yet in the reckoning of the Almighty God, when marriage occurs between a man and a woman, the two become truly dha – “Echad.”

Here again the word dha – “Echad” does not sanction the idea of unity in absolute singularity but rather the idea of absolute unity in plurality!

---------------------

Forth occurrence: Genesis Chapter 11:6.

dx'a, ~[;Û !hEå hw"©hy> rm,aYOæw:

“And the LORD said, ‘Behold they are One (Echad) people.’”

This use of the word One - dha – “Echad” indicates that the many, although clearly distinguished from each other as individuals, were nevertheless a UNITY, yet the word “people” is in the singular!

---------------------

Fifth occurrence: Genesis Chapter 27:45.

dx'(a, ~Ayð ~k,ÞynEv.-~G: lK;²v.a, hm'îl

“Why should I be bereaved of you both in One (Echad) day.

We have already looked at the first occurrence that a day is One - dha – “Echad” made up of “evening and there was morning, One day.”

In the passage above, if you will read it further, you will find that there is a question in Rebekah’s mind, that there is an awful possibility of two separate bereavements becoming One - dha – “Echad.”

---------------------

Sixth occurrence: Genesis Chapter 33:13.

!aCo)h;-lK' WtmeÞw" dx'êa, ~Ayæ ‘~Wqp'd>W

“And if they overdrive them One (Echad) day, all flocks will die.”

For the explanation of “one day” see the first/fifth occurrence.

---------------------

Seventh occurrence: Genesis Chapter 34:16.

dx'(a, ~[;îl. WnyyIßh'w>

“ … and we will become One (Echad) people.”

Here we find that the sons of Jacob suggest that two clearly distinguished groups of people will become One - dha – “Echad” if one uncircumcised group would become circumcised.

The word is again used to imply that many individuals can become a UNITY of individuals. However, the One - dha – “Echad” does not mean that the many individuals become the single individual, possessing but one head, one body, two eyes, etc.

Nevertheless the word does imply a UNITY, a oneness, of such character as to tantamount to the many heads thinking as if by one head, the many bodies acting as if but one body, the many eyes discerning as if but two eyes.

---------------------

Eighth occurrence: Genesis Chapter 34:22.

dx'_a, ~[;äl.

“ … to become One (Echad) people.”

Refer to occurrence three and four.

---------------------

Ninth occurrence: Genesis Chapter 40:5.

dx'êa, hl'y>l:åB. Aml{x] vyaiÛ ~h,øynEv. ~Al’x] •Wml.x;Y:)w

“And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man a dream in One (Echad) night.”

The verse makes it clear that the night was a single night. Therefore it appears that, One - dha – “Echad” in this verse is also used to represent a unity in singularity, yet the thought is embodied in the expression of the two clearly distinguished dreams into the unity of one night.

---------------------

Tenth occurrence: Genesis Chapter 41:5.

tAaïyrIB. dx'Þa, hn<ïq'B. tAl±[o ~yliªB\vi [b;v,ä hNEåhiw> tynI+ve ~l{ßx]Y:w:) !v'§yYIw:

tAb)jow>

“And he slept and dreamed a second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon One (Echad) stalk, rank and good.”

Here again is a uniplurality: the seven, though clearly distinguished, nevertheless One (Echad), a perfect UNITY.

---------------------

Eleventh occurrence: Genesis Chapter 41:11.

aWh+w" ynIåa] dx'Þa, hl'y>l:ïB. ~Al±x] hm'îl.x;N:)w:

“And we dreamed a dream in One (Echad) night, I and he.”

See the above notes.

---------------------

Twelfth occurrence: Genesis Chapter 41:22.

dx'Þa, hn<ïq'B. tl{±[o ~yliªB\vi [b;v,ä hNEåhiw>

“… and behold, seven ears came up on One (Echad) stalk.”

See the above notes.

---------------------

Thirteenth occurrence: Genesis Chapter 41:25.

aWh+ dx'äa, h[oßr>P; ~Alïx] h[oêr>P;-la, ‘@seAy rm,aYOÝw:

“And Joseph said unto Pharaoh: ‘The dream of Pharaoh is One (Chad).’”

And

---------------------

Fourteenth occurrence: Genesis Chapter 41:26.

~ynIßv' [b;v,î tboêJoh; ‘~yliB\Vih;( [b;v,Ûw> hN"heê ‘~ynIv' [b;v,Û tboªJoh; troåP' [b;v

aWh) dx'îa, ~Alßx] hN"hE+

“The seven good kine (cows) are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is One (Echad)”

The two examples before us supply a very illuminating example of the use of the word Onedha, because the above revelation to Joseph to Pharaoh is in term exactly in parallel to Moses’ revelation to Israel in Davarim, Deuteronomy 6:4. This should be quite conclusive.

Here Pharaoh’s two separate and distinct terms, and further separated by a distinct period of wakefulness (Bereshis, Genesis 41:4) are nevertheless declared to be dha – Echad, One.

With equal accuracy Joseph could have declared unto Pharaoh: “HEAR O PHARAOH, THE DREAM, OUR DREAMS, THE DREAM IS ONE.”

---------------------

Fifteenth occurrence: Genesis Chapter 42:11.

dx'Þa,-vyai ynEïB. WnL'§Ku

“We are all One (Echad) man's sons; we are upright men, thy servants are no spies.”

Here again whilst the man is a unit (although man himself is a trinity, three in one, spirit, soul and body) yet the thought conveyed is that many are really a UNITY in origin!

---------------------

Sixteenth occurrence: Genesis Chapter 42:13.

dx'Þa,-vyai ynEïB. Wnx.n:±a]

“The sons of One (Echad) man.”

Although there are twelve, yet UNITY in origins is clearly seen here and it is so expressed!

---------------------

Seventeenth occurrence: Genesis Chapter 42:16.

è~k,yxia]-ta, xQ:åyIw> édx'a, ~K,ämi Wx’l.vi

“Send One (Echad) of you, and let him fetch your brother.”

Literal: “Send ye (plural) from you (plural) dha One and he shall take your (plural) brother.

Here again we see the word dha – “Echad” used to denote a unit from among the unity

---------------------

Eighteenth occurrence: Genesis Chapter 42:19.

dx'êa, ~k,äyxia] ~T,êa; ~ynIåKe-~ai

“…if ye be upright men, let one of your brethren.”

Again the word is used to denote a unit from among the unity.

---------------------

This concludes the eighteen uses of the word Echad in Bereshis, Genesis and we will continue with our observations regarding this important word!

Thus what do we make of all this? First we will come to realise that after an examination of the book of Bereshis (Genesis) it will reveal that the above eighteen quotations contain the only uses of the word dha – “Echad” in that book! I have purposely placed the quotations in the order as they appear in the Word and each time its meaning became more and more clear. An ?impartial examination will reveal that the word dha is to denote UNITY, the kind of unity denoted by the word is far more frequently a unity of plurality that a unity of singularity. The major stress if its use gives a clear idea of uniplurality, whilst the idea of absolute inseparable singularity is disassociated from the word almost entirely.

To those who revere the Torah (the first five books of the Old Testament) and the Word of God as the sole written Divine revelation to man, it is unnecessary to add that it is not permissible to entertain or retain a conception of the word dha which lacks the endorsement of the Word of God!

Thus using only Scriptural conception of the word dha as a torch of illumination wherewith to examine Israel’s “Shema Yisroel”, we discern that any employment or understanding of the word which tends to limit its meaning solely to absolute singularity is a gross misrepresentation. It become doubly culpable when the noun which dha is associated is plural as is the case of Deuteronomy 6:4, Moshe’s great declaration for the word - WnyheÞl{a – Elohenu. It could have read, “our (plural) God (singular)”, but it did not, It reads, “our (plural) WnyheÞl{a – Elohenu - God’s” (plural). To those unacquainted with the Hebrew, it should be noted that that the terminal character Y in WnyheÞl{a – Elohenu makes the NOUN plural. The word WnyheÞl{a is really a double plural: the normal ending Y..  renders the NOUN ITSELF in the plural, whilst the pronominal suffix Wn denotes the positive plural “our.”

For example:

WnsWS our horse

WnsyWS our horses

Thus we should ask: What then, of the REAL meaning of Moshe’s meaning of the great declaration regarding the Eternal One?

The plurality of the Noun (quite distinctly from the plurality of the pronominal suffix) and the Scriptural light upon the meaning of the word dha – “Echad” combine to condemn any conception of unity that excludes a uniplurality. The great declaration is that there is only One God, but that there is a clear uniplurality in that one Godhead which, for instance, could not be expressed by the word dyxiêy"\ Yachid. The word dyxiêy"\ - Yachid denotes absolute singularity and appears in Jeremiah 6:26, Amos 8:18 and Psalm 25:16.

It was for the express reason to avoid the just claims of Messiah Yahushua, the Lord Jesus, the great declaration of faith as spoken by Moshe, Moses, was distorted by the rabbis into a false meaning and we should look to the “Thirteen Principles of the Jewish Faith” by

dyxiêy hw"ïhy> YWnyheÞl{a/ hw"ïhy> lae_r"f.yI [m;Þv

“Hear O Israel, the LORD our God, the Lord is a Unity (Yachid)”

Yet Moshe in the Deuteronomy 6:4 did not say that, he clearly …

Dx'(a, hw"ïhy> YWnyheÞl{a/ hw"ïhy> lae_r"f.yI [m;Þv

“Hear O Israel, the LORD our God, the Lord is One (Echad)”

You may ask on what basis I make this claim? The famous Jewish Sage Rabbi Moses Maimon (Maimonides, also known as Rambam – 1135-1204) formulated the “Thirteen Principles of the Jewish Faith.” He stated in the second principle “I believe with perfect faith that the Creator, blessed be His Name, is a unity (dyxiêy - Yachid), and that there is no unity (dyxiêy - Yachid) in any manner like unto His, and that He alone is God, who was, is and will be.”

The aforementioned proclamation of faith written by Maimonides, which is recited by orthodox Jews daily claims that God is a Unity – Yachid, whereas the blessed Scripture clearly states that He is “Dx'(a – Echad” – One, which has as we have already studied a very different meaning in the Book of Genesis on 18 separate occasions!

Thus it was Rambam who stated that “The Creator is an absolute Unity” or Yachid. YHVH, the Almighty Himself through Moshe said that He is a compound Unity using the term dha – “Echad”. Which Moshe will you believe? The one sent by God or the one spouting the teachings of the “Mishna Torah,” Moses Ben Maimon/Rambam? If you desire to follow the sacred Torah/Tanach, the Bible your choice is clear.

Beloved, I am writing this study as a letter of love. The love of YHVH Elohim, the LORD God can only be perceived and the person of Yahushua can only be KNOWN through the Spirit of Truth.

“Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calls Yahushua accursed, and that no man can say that Yahushua, is the Lord, but by the Ruach HaKodesh, the Holy Spirit, (The Spirit of Truth)1 Corinthians 12:3.

That is what I am trying with all diligence to communicate, about the great peril, to which some may have come to think about the truth of the statement of the Shema Yisroel and the word “Dx'(a – Echad – ONE.” We must read the Word and come to know who Yisroel’s Messiah Yahushua really is. I find that the first three verses of Yochannan (John) Chapter 1 so clearly described it …

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.”

What I believe is summarised in 4 simple foundational principles upon which my understanding of the doctrine of Messiah stands:

1) YHVH (the LORD) is the One true Elohim. God is God. This simple statement is really quite profound. As I have detailed in the article “Asirey Hatikvah”, God is “Echad – ONE” meaning more that One can be One. God according the Scriptures is certainly not “Yachid - A UNITY” as stated in the Principles of the Jewish Faith, as we have already read earlier!

2) YHVH cannot lie. For our God cannot do is lie. HaSatan is the liar.

3) YHVH does not change. And indeed Yahushua is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

4) If YHVH said it will happen, it will happen exactly as He said, because of WHO it is that said it. It makes no difference if I agree or not. It makes no difference if I like it or not. It makes no difference if my theology agrees or not. It will happen!

The Father, the Son and Ruach HaKodesh (The Holy Spirit) are as the Scriptures tell us are truly “Dx'(a – Echad - ONE.”

Conclusion

Now we understand what “Echad” really means, I would like to conclude with the flowing: I came to believe in Messiah Yahushua, as an orthodox Jew whilst I was all alone in my study one evening during my Ma’ariv prayers at home and believe this, it was the Almighty of Israel who gave me the revelation about His Messiah and not some Christian trying to convert me! That night as I came to know about HaMashiach from the Torah and the Tanach, I believed and repented and then I was filled with the Spirit of the Ruach HaKodesh. That was in early December 1977 and seven years later, I was called out to become a teacher of the Word and travelled the world with a Greek believer. Today as I have grown so much, I fully believe in the Messiah and I worship the Father, Messiah and the Ruach HaKodesh as Echad with all my heart and all my soul and all my might.

I pray that should any of my Hebrew brethren have read this article that they may come to “Know, Believe and Understand that I Am He” that Yahushua is indeed our promised Messiah and that in faith and repentance He will open up the way for Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit), to dwell within you. Isaiah said,

“Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered Him stricken by Elohim (God), smitten by Him, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities (Israel’s & all sinners); the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and YHVH (The LORD) has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed and afflicted, yet He did not open his mouth; He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so He did not open His mouth. By oppression and judgment He was taken away … For He was cut (died at the cross) off from the land of the living; for the transgression of My people (Israel) He was stricken. He was assigned a grave with the wicked and with the rich in His death (tomb of Joseph of Arimathea) though He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth.” Isaiah 53:4-9.

Online read my online work “The Sixth Principle” (see the Site Index below). This work is based on Maimonides’ “Thirteen Principles of the Jewish faith” but it covers the Sixth one! However, there is also a very powerful article with it, both in Hebrew and English and it has what ancient Rabbis of blessed memories have to say about Isaiah chapter 53 and who the “Suffering Servant” really is! What some of the most famous Rabbis have to say makes for powerful and revealing reading! They include: Rabbi Moses Maimon (Maimonides also known as Rambam) – 1135-1204, Rabbi Jonathan ben Uzziel, a follower of the famed Rabbi Hillel, who lived at the end of the Second Temple era, Rashi (Rabbi Shlomo Itzchaki) - 1040-1105, Rabbi Moshe Kohen Iben Crispin of Cordova, and many more!

Just for interest, the almighty used Daniel Chapter 9, which so clearly spoke of the rebuilding of the Second Temple unto the Messiah and that He would be “cut off (put to death), but not for Himself.” Verses 25-26.

On that night the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob touched my heart of stone, which after so many years hating this Christian Jesus and the murderous Christians who have killed our people over centuries, yet it gave way to a heart of passionate devotion to God, a heart of flesh and now I have come to know Him far more closely that I have ever been able than I did in Shul (the Synagogue). He desires that you too would come to know Him this way. Today I know that true believers in Messiah never had a part in persecuting Israel! In fact my Book “Dutch Tzedakah” proves quite the opposite!

“And I will give you a New Heart and put a New Spirit into you. I will remove the heart of stone from your body and give you a heart of flesh; and I will put My Spirit into you.” Ezekiel 36:26-27.

Below are some very good verses for you to learn and possibly to memorise from the Messianic Books (Brit Chadashah -New Testament), and remember they were all written by Jews, who believed in Yahushua HaMashiach.

“Come unto Me (said Yahushua), all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls,” Mattityahu (Matthew) 11:28-30.

“If any one is thirsty, let them come to Me! Let the person come and drink who believes in Me!” Yochannan (John) 7:37

“I am the Light of the world; anyone who follows Me will not be walking in darkness; he will have the Light of Life.” Yochannan (John) 8:12.

“I tell you the truth; before Avraham ever was, I AM.” Yochannan (John) 8:58.

“I am the resurrection. If anyone believes in Me, even though he dies he will live, and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die.” Yochannan (John) 11:25-26.

Yahushua holds the Key to Life in His Hand. He wants to reveal Himself to you. Will you let Him? Why not contact me and we will how you also can come to know the risen Messiah of Israel, Yahushua, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham, the Son of the YHVH Elohim Yisroel’s promised Messiah!

“Teach me Your way, O YHVH. I will walk in Your truth.
Unite my heart to fear Your Name!”

Tehillim (Psalms) 86:11
